First we marched, then we ran

The conference occurred on Jan. 12, 2019. It brought together 2018 Democratic congressional candidates, academics, students and members of the public.

The goal of the conference was to provide candidates with a forum to share their experiences, while fostering dialogue between academics who study politics and people who do politics.

Throughout the day, candidates spoke on panels moderated by political scientists. They addressed:

  • Getting started, fundraising, and logistics

  • Running as blue candidates in red districts

  • Party dynamics

  • The personal side of being a candidate

For those who were unable to join us in person, the entire conference is now available on video.
